England beat New Zealand by five wickets to comfortably secure a 2-1 one-day international series victory over their hosts.

England have secured a one-day international series win over New Zealand with a comfortable five-wicket victory in Auckland.

After winning the toss, England put New Zealand in to bat, and Steven Finn and James Anderson soon reduced their opponents to 11-3.

Brendon McCullum struck five sixes in a knock of 79, but New Zealand were bowled out for 185 inside 44 overs.

England were rarely in trouble during their run chase, with Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott making 46 and 38 respectively, before Eoin Morgan moved his side closer to an inevitable triumph with 39 off 24 balls.

Jos Buttler soon went for three with England still requiring 15 runs to win, but Joe Root saw his side over the line with an unbeaten 28 with 12.3 overs to spare.
