Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott up for ICC award

Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott are in contention to win ICC award.

Batsman Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott have been placed on the short-list for the International Cricket Council’s player of the year award.

The England duo have been nominated alongside India’s Sachin Tendulkar and South Africa’s Hashim Amla for the top player prize.

Cook and Trott are also up for the best Test player award alongside teammate James Anderson and South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis.

All four are joined in the Test team of the year by England bowlers Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad.

England seam bowler Tim Bresnan is in contention to scoop the Twenty20 award and is up against New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Australia’s Shane Watson and South Africa’s JP Duminy.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London on Monday, September 12.
