Paul Collingwood has insisted that there are plenty of reasons for the England team to be optimistic as they prepare for life with a new head coach.

The England and Wales Cricket Board are expected to name Andy Flower's permanent replacement soon, and Collingwood believes that supporters should be confident of seeing success in the future.

"Whoever takes the job on; it's pretty much exciting times, because the potential how far that side can go is very, very high," the former England batsman, who supported interim coach Ashley Giles during the World Twenty20, told Sky Sports News.

"It's vitally important that we get the right man and the right man for the environment and the dressing room.

"We all want what's best for English cricket, we want to get the right man for the future of English cricket and that's the important decision that Paul Downton (ECB managing director) and the hierarchy will have to make. So I am sure they have got a few good candidates in there."

Giles, Peter Moores, Mark Robinson, Mike Newell and Trevor Bayliss are reported to be the five men in the frame for the job.
