Former England head coach Peter Moores has admitted that he is in the running with the ECB to take charge of the national side again, following Andy Flower's resignation earlier in the year.

Moores said that he did not do himself justice in the job the first time around and, should he get the chance again, knows where he could improve the team.

"I can tell you I'm part of the process to identify the next coach - I'm in that and see where that takes me," he told Sky Sports News. "I'm a passionate Englishman and enjoyed my time last time around even though it got cut short but if the opportunity came again I'd love to have another go at it.

"But I'm also conscious I've had a great time at Lancashire during the last five years, developing our own players, so I don't want to get distracted.

"When I came out of that job, I look back and think of areas I could have done better. So it would be nice to go back and learn from the experiences I had first time."

Moores held the job previously for two years between 2007 and 2009.
