England bowler James Anderson has said that becoming his country's all-time leading Test wicket taker is "fairytale stuff".

Anderson overtook Ian Botham's 383 wickets in the first Test of the current series in the West Indies, before he helped them win the second Test last week.

He told The Sun: "To beat Sir Ian Botham's record for most Test wickets by an England bowler in my 100th Test was fairytale stuff. To follow that by helping us to a brilliant win is almost beyond words."

Anderson also voiced his support for captain Alastair Cook, while he encouraged his teammates to continue playing well as boardroom changes take place.

He added: "We are all delighted for Cooky and Peter Moores, too. A new director of England cricket is to be appointed and there is obviously some uncertainty. Although things are going on in the background, it's crucial that we perform on the field."

The final Test of the series against the West Indies starts on Friday.
