James Anderson: 'Fielders didn't need to apologise for mistakes'

James Anderson dismisses claims made by Kevin Pietersen that fielders were forced to apologise for mistakes when playing for England.

England bowler James Anderson has denied claims made by Kevin Pietersen in his autobiography that fielders were forced to apologise to bowlers for dropped catches.

Pietersen hit out at several players in the England team in his book, and stated that fielders were often yelled at for making mistakes during Andy Flower's reign as coach of the national side.

"I tended to field in the slips so if I dropped a catch I felt really bad for the bowler and I'd generally apologise, but there wasn't a separate apology room," Anderson told Sky Sports News.

"I've probably shouted when catches have gone down but I did it generally and not at someone, and certainly not like the way a goalkeeper would shout at his defenders when a goal goes in."

Anderson will miss England's upcoming tour of Sri Lanka with a knee injury.
