Ian Bell: 'England must put on good performance against Scotland'

Ian Bell insists that winning is the most important thing when England face Scotland in the World Cup, but adds that producing a "clinical" display is also required.

Ian Bell has targeted a "clinical" victory over Scotland in this evening's World Cup meeting as England look to finally get off the mark in the tournament.

Eoin Morgan's men have suffered two heavy defeats against co-hosts Australia and New Zealand so far to leave them bottom of Pool A.

Despite the back-to-back losses, England still have four games to turn their fortunes around, starting with the must-win match against rivals Scotland tonight.

"It's about how we react," Bell told reporters. "I think we have got to put on a good performance. The result is the most important thing but it would be nice to put it on with real, clinical cricket.

"We haven't done that in these last two games, we have been well off the pace. It will be nice to turn up and put all together the game we know we can. That is what we have got to do.

"Even though what has happened has been so bad, it is irrelevant with what happens tomorrow. We need to turn up and play our best cricket."

Bell recently became England's all-time leading run scorer in one-day international cricket.
