England made slow progress during the opening day of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia in Durham until they lost Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen and captain Alastair Cook before tea.
The hosts started slowly this morning as Australia managed to find the breakthrough by dismissing Joe Root for 16.
Cook and Trott built a steady partnership, with Trott one run away from his half-century until Nathan Lyon's delivery hit the inside edge, deflecting off the pad and into the hands of Usman Khawaja.
Pietersen (26) was the next to go for England as he was caught out by Brad Haddin after Lyon hit the outside edge, leaving Cook to lead from the front.
The skipper did just that by reaching a half-century, but his surge was short-lived when he was sent packing for an lbw, leaving England on 155-4 by tea.
