Giles Clarke hits out at bad light decision

England chairman Giles Clarke criticises the umpires' decision to end the fifth Ashes Test due to bad lighting.

England chairman Giles Clarke has criticised the International Cricket Council after the fifth and final Ashes Test was brought to an end due to bad lighting.

The English needed just 21 runs from 24 balls to record a 4-0 series victory over the Australians, but the umpires deemed it too dark for play to continue.

"It's totally unsatisfactory the way the game ended - the rules are clearly unacceptable and I expect [ICC chief executive] David Richardson to change it at the next ICC chief executives' meeting," PA Sport quotes Clarke as saying.

Although the final test ended in a draw, Clarke admitted that England's series victory filled him with pride.

"It's a great moment though, the country should appreciate these players," he added. "I'm so proud of our team and had the privilege of giving some of them Ashes medals for the second time."

There were 445 runs scored throughout the day, for the loss of 17 wickets.
