Steve Smith: 'We are ready for England'

Steve Smith insists that Australia are fully prepared for England's attacking approach ahead of the first one-day international in Southampton.

Steve Smith has claimed that Australia are ready for England's attacking approach ahead of the one-day international series between the two sides.

Australia suffered defeat in The Ashes and lost the one-off Twenty20 match by five runs on Monday, but Smith is confident that the tourists will learn to cope with the England batting lineup as they prepare for Thursday's first ODI.

"The way they played against New Zealand was really good, they took the game on. Moeen Ali recently said they're trying to play quite similarly to the way we play," the Australian skipper told reporters.

"We know how they're going to play. They're going to come quite hard so we're going to get opportunities if we get the ball in the right areas.

"We've just got to make sure we take those opportunities."

Australia have won 12 of their last 13 completed ODIs.
