Craig McDermott returns as Australia bowling coach

Craig McDermott returns to his position as bowling coach of Australia nearly 18 months since he resigned from the post because of a heavy touring schedule.

Bowling coach Craig McDermott has returned to Australia's staff ahead of this winter's Ashes series Down Under.

The 48-year-old cited a heavy touring schedule when he resigned from the post in May of last year, but he will be preparing the Aussie attack to win their first Ashes series since 2006.

His new role will be just working with the Test team, limiting the amount he has to travel.

"There is obviously a huge focus on regaining the Ashes this summer and I'll work as hard as possible to prepare our bowlers for the challenge ahead," Reuters quotes him as saying.

McDermott, who was originally appointed bowling coach in May 2011, played 71 Test matches for Australia.
