Joe Ham: "I am buzzing"

Scotland boxer Joe Ham reveals his delight after booking his spot in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland boxer Joe Ham has said that he was "buzzing" after booking his spot in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games.

Ham overcame Nadir Nadir on points to set up a last-eight clash against Team England's Qais Ashfaq, who beat Neo Thamahane.

"I am buzzing to get the first one out of the way, which is always the hardest one in these tournaments," Ham told Sports Mole immediately after the bout.

"Once I was in there and heard the crowd, it must have been the best one so far. It is class. You have got to enjoy yourself and that's what I did. Once I found my distance I was fine.

"I could have stood and had a war, but I am fighting again on Wednesday so there was no need to take unnecessary shots."

Ham's bout with Ashfaq will take place on Wednesday afternoon.
