Anthony Joshua beats Charles Martin to claim IBF heavyweight title

Brit Anthony Joshua beats Charles Martin inside two rounds to claim the IBF heavyweight title in London on Saturday night.

Anthony Joshua floored American Charles Martin in just the second round to claim the IBF heavyweight title at a packed O2 Arena on Saturday night in the English capital.

Champion Martin was making his first defence of the title that he won in January, but the American could not cope with the power from Joshua, who forced the referee to stop the bout in just the second round.

Neither man gave too much away in the first round of the contest, but Joshua upped the pace in the second - catching Martin with a right-hand counter and after the American was knocked down again, Joshua was given the win.

Joshua has become the first Briton to win the super heavyweight Olympic gold and a world heavyweight title and now has a record of 16 knockouts from his 16 professional fights.

The 26-year-old has also only been past the third round on one previous occasion and that was a seventh-round stoppage of Dillian Whyte last time out.

After the bout, WBA and WBO champion Tyson Fury called out Joshua on social networking side Twitter, once again claiming that his fellow Brit is 'a bodybuilder rather than a boxer'.
