Mauricio Sulaiman: 'Pacquiao, Khan winner could face Floyd Mayweather Jr'

Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the WBC, hints that Floyd Mayweather Jr could be mandated to face the winner of a potential bout between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan.

The winner of a potential match between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan could face Floyd Mayweather Jr, according to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.

In May, Pacquiao suffered a lop-sided points defeat to the pound-for-pound king, while Khan has frequently been shunned by Mayweather, who will face Andre Berto in September.

However, Sulaiman has suggested that one of Pacquiao or Khan could meet Mayweather, providing that the American performs a U-turn and opts to continue his career into 2016.

Sulaiman told World Boxing News: "Amir Khan is the silver champion and a wonderful fighter and a true representative of the best of boxing. Amir Khan has always been very loyal to the WBC, and of course, any fight with Manny Pacquiao could be a final elimination for the WBC welterweight title - without a doubt."

With Pacquiao out injured until next year, a potential fight between the two could take place in April 2016.
