Trainer Peter Fury targets Anthony Joshua fight for Hughie Fury

Trainer Peter Fury says that his son Hughie is ready to accept an offer to face IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in his next fight.

Trainer Peter Fury has indicated that his son Hughie Fury would jump at an opportunity to face IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua before the end of 2016.

Joshua is currently looking for an opponent for his scheduled return to the ring in the winter, with Bermane Stiverne and Kubrat Pulev both strongly linked with a showdown with the London 2012 gold medallist.

However, Fury has said that Hughie - who is unbeaten in 20 fights - is prepared to challenge Joshua in either November or December after recovering from health issues that have stunted his development in the professional game.

Fury told Sky Sports News: "Hughie is in a good place. He's turning 22 in September, had 20 fights and he's a lot better physically and in terms of health than he was.

"He's ready to face these kind of fights and there's no reason why they can't happen. He'd be the most technically proficient fighter Joshua has faced by a mile.

"A lot of people have underestimated him on his past performances because he's been struggling with the health issues and as a result was performing at 30%-40%. We've got confidence in him. We know what he's capable of doing. He's an excellent boxer and he's very, very tough as well. He's good at doing rounds so it'd be interesting."

Fury is currently inside the top 15 of the IBF rankings so the bout could take place should terms be agreed between the two camps.
