Anthony Joshua: 'I wouldn't turn down shot at British heavyweight title'

Anthony Joshua admits that he wouldn't be able to turn down an opportunity to fight for the British heavyweight title if he was offered the bout in 2014.

Anthony Joshua has insisted that he is focused on defeating Dorian Darch on Saturday night, despite holding ambitions to compete for the British title.

The Olympic gold medallist has won his opening three professional fights, and as he prepares for his bout in Cardiff this evening, the young heavyweight has admitted that he is keen to fight for the domestic strap.

The Mirror quotes the 24-year-old as saying: "I wouldn't turn it down if the opportunity arose.

"I do have instructions from my coach, but, me, personally, I'd love to go for the big time and fight for a British title.

"Come the summer, they'll be more news to come. Potentially, an opportunity might arise where I compete for a title. But as for now, I'm concentrating on Saturday."

Darch has won seven of his nine fights, with his two defeats coming against Hughie Fury and Ian Lewison.
