Scott Quigg has said that he will not consider himself a world champion unless he defeats Yoandris Salinas in Manchester on September 28.
The 24-year-old from Bury was made WBA super bantamweight champion on paper after beating Rendall Munroe for the interim strap in November, but insists that his dream is to win the belt in the ring.
"If I don't win that fight I'm not a world champion," Quigg, who is unbeaten in 26 fights, told Sky Sports News. "On the 28th that's when I win that fight and become world champion.
"This is the dream I've had since I was a kid, no one wants to win a world title out of the ring. I want to win my world title in a ring against a good opponent.
"I know we're up against a very good fighter, he's had over 300 wins as an amateur but me and Joe [Gallagher, trainer] are confident with what we've come up with and he'll have to worry about me as well on the night."
Cuba's Salinas, 27, has won 20 of his 21 fights, with the only mark being a draw against Venezuela's Nehomar Cermeno in Panama two years ago.
