Martin Murray excited ahead of Gennady Golovkin challenge

British middleweight Martin Murray insists that he is looking forward to the challenge of trying to become the first man to defeat WBA Super champion Gennady Golovkin.

British middleweight Martin Murray has revealed that he is prepared to do 'whatever it takes' to dethrone undefeated WBA Super champion Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night.

The Kazakh fighter is widely considered to be the most feared man in the sport after registering 28 knockouts in 31 contests, but Murray, who has twice failed in bids to win a world title, is confident that he can cause a huge shock in Monte Carlo.

The 32-year-old told ESPN: "I'm looking forward to putting 12 weeks of hard work to good use. A lot of people would find it daunting but not me - I'm looking forward to it. I know what I've got to do and I can't wait.

"I'm positive that I can beat him. The longer the fight goes on, the better it will be for me. He hasn't gone 12 rounds before so we don't know what he's going to be like in those later rounds.

"I go through that many scenarios in my head of how the fight should go. I've gone into a deeper place for this fight than any of my others. I know it's going to be the hardest fight of my life and that I'm ready to do all that it takes to win that belt."
