Carl Froch: 'George Groves can't take punishment'

Carl Froch dismisses George Groves's world-title aspirations by claiming that he is not tough enough.

Carl Froch believes that George Groves's inability to take a punch will hold him back from becoming a world champion.

Groves recorded a points victory over Christopher Rebrasse on Saturday evening to bounce back from a knockout defeat to Froch on May 31.

However, 'The Cobra' dismissed his former nemesis's hopes of lifting a world title by claiming that he cannot handle being hit.

Froch told talkSPORT: "To sum up George Groves, he's a giver, not a taker. He can dish punishment out and he's good on the offense, but he can't take punishment.

"If you want to become a world champion and dominate at world level, you have to be able to take a punch.

"You have to be like myself, or Mikkel Kessler, or Jermain Taylor, or Jean Pascal, or Arthur Abraham - these fighters that go 12 rounds with me. I don't think George Groves is tough enough. He may prove me wrong, but from what I saw the other night, I don't see a future world champion at any sort of great level."

Froch's last two fights have been wins against Groves.
