Carl Froch has expressed doubt as to whether or not George Groves will recover from the defeat that he inflicted on him last night.
In front of 80,000 fans at Wembley, 36-year-old Froch saw off the challenge of Groves for the second time in six months, on this occasion courtesy of a powerful right hand in the eighth round.
Groves has since vowed to bounce back and become a world champion, but Froch has claimed that the 26-year-old's future may well be uncertain.
"He may or may not come back stronger - it could be the end of him. I said this could be a career-ending fight for either of us. I don't know what George Groves is going to do from here. He's certainly young enough to come back and he's good enough to do something else, but that was quite a bad knockout and it won't sit well with him," he told Sky Sports News.
From his 21 bouts, Froch is the only fighter to have beaten Hammersmith-born Groves.
