Four-time world champion Carl Froch has confirmed his retirement from boxing with immediate effect.
The 38-year-old has opted to step away from the ring after 35 fights, which includes 33 wins - 24 by knockout - and two defeats.
The Nottingham-born fighter, nicknamed 'The Cobra', claimed WBC, WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles during his career.
Froch has bowed out 14 months after he knocked out George Groves in front of an 80,000-strong crowd at Wembley.
"I've always said if I retire I won't come back because I think it's dangerous. It's annoying for me as a boxing fan to see people retire and change their mind. It sort of takes the validity away from it, you have to be taken seriously in this world," he said in a statement.
"If I was to fight again, physically I could, but mentally I couldn't. I think the desire has well and truly gone. I have nothing left to prove and my legacy speaks for itself."
Froch will now work as a boxing pundit for Sky Sports.
