Tommy Coyle eager to secure Luke Campbell encounter

British lightweight Tommy Coyle admits that a potential fight with Hull rival Luke Campbell is on his mind ahead of Saturday's clash with Martin Gethin.

British lightweight Tommy Coyle has revealed that it is hard to distance himself from a potential showdown with Hull rival Luke Campbell later in 2015.

Coyle will undergo a tough examination against former British champion Martin Gethin on Saturday night, but world-ranked Coyle is aware that victory would set him up for a huge fight with Olympic gold medallist Campbell.

The 25-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "My fight with Luke would be the biggest event that has ever happened in Hull. I am so, so excited about it. Luke and I are quite good friends but I have a job to do and I want to be number one.

"Martin is first and foremost and I have to do a job. The fight with Luke is hanging over my head but I have to do a job on Martin for that fight to remain as big as it is.

"I will concentrate on Martin because he is a tough, tough opponent. He has won a British title, something I have never won before, so I have to be at my very best."

Coyle is competing in his first match since dramatically stopping Michael Katsidis in two rounds late last year.
