Ricky Burns aiming to impress United States fans

Former world lightweight champion Ricky Burns admits that he is hoping to impress on his debut in the United States when he faces Omar Figueroa in Texas on Saturday night.

British lightweight Ricky Burns has predicted an all-action fight between himself and Omar Figueroa when they meet in Texas on Saturday night.

The two former world lightweight champions meet in their first significant contest at 140lbs, and Burns is hopeful that he can impress on his debut in the United States.

The 32-year-old told BBC Scotland: "I hope the American fans take me for who I am; just a quiet guy who wants to get on with his job.

"This is a fight the fans will really enjoy. Omar is popular because of his style and I'm not one for backing away."

The Scot has won 37 of his 42 matches as a professional, while Figueroa is unbeaten in 25 outings.
