Kell Brook insists that he will end six months of injury hell by making a statement against Carson Jones, with the welterweight rematch set to take place in Hull next month.

Sheffield welterweight Kell Brook has insisted that he will end six months plagued by injury with a dominant display against former foe Carson Jones.

Brook was scheduled to fight Devon Alexander for the IBF world title on three separate occasions this year, but eventually saw the bout fall through thanks to a foot injury.

Alexander comfortably beat late replacement Lee Purdy last month, with Brook forced to refocus ahead of his return next month in a rematch against durable American Jones.

The 27-year-old admitted that frustration has been a common theme so far in 2013, but is determined to make up for lost time by dominating Jones to underline his world title credentials.

He said: "It has been very frustrating. I have never really had an injury in my whole career and then just before the biggest fight of my life it happens to come along. It was horrible and I was absolutely gutted about it.

"Without a doubt it was the hardest thing I have had to go through in my boxing career. I have always wanted to be a World champion and when I got a world title fight it got taken away from me and it was out of my hands, it was so frustrating.

"I am on to the next chapter in my boxing career now and I am looking forward to having fun on July 13. Step by step we will get to where I have wanted to get all of my life and all of my career. Big things will come from me, I am going to make a statement in this fight and I am going to carry on from there."

Brook will face Jones at Craven Park in Hull on July 13, in a show which will also feature the professional debut of Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell.
