British welterweight Kell Brook returns to sparring for the first time since suffering a foot injury earlier in the year.

Kell Brook's trainer Dominic Ingle has backed the Sheffield fighter to 'regain his momentum' after returning to sparring for the first time since a foot injury.

The British welterweight was forced to withdraw from a world title showdown with Devon Alexander after suffering a fractured metatarsal, but he has been tipped to be fully fit for his upcoming fight with Carson Jones in July.

Ingle told the Sheffield Star: "Kell has to get back the momentum that he had when he got injured. There's no doubt that before his foot injury, he was in such fantastic shape and he would have won the world title.

"He'd trained hard from November to the back end of February and nobody could be surprised if he went walkabout for a while as he got his head around what had happened. All that hard work and nothing materialised.

"Now I'd put him at 70% fit. He'll be 100% when he faces Jones. He has no pain from the foot and a scan has confirmed that everything is okay."

The 27-year-old is unbeaten in 29 professional fights.
