British welterweight Lee Purdy has insisted that he is ready to make a "big statement" in his world title clash with Devon Alexander on Saturday night.
Purdy is the heavy underdog for the bout in Atlantic City after coming in as a replacement for the injured Kell Brook, but the Colchester fighter believes that he has the quality to come away as Britain's fifth world title holder.
The 25-year-old told a press conference: "I'm in great shape and I'm ready to put a big statement out there.
"I'm not going to let Devon out-box me. I'm going to put my heart and soul into this fight and come out victorious."
Purdy has a professional record of 20 victories from 24 fights.
