Qais Ashfaq guaranteed boxing medal

England batamweight Qais Ashfaq will be on the podium at the Commonwealth Games after beating Scotland's Joe Haim in the quarter-finals of his competition.

England's Qais Ashfaq has guaranteed himself a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's bantamweight boxing competition after beating Joe Ham this afternoon.

The Leeds fighter got a unanimous decision from the judges to defeat the Scot and secure a place in the semi-finals at Glasgow.

Ashfaw will take on Benson Gicharu Njangiru of Kenya in the semi-final.

Both losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze medals in the boxing events.
