England's Joe Joyce handed bye into super-heavyweight final

English boxer Joe Joyce is handed a bye into the final at the Commonwealth Games after last-four opponent Mike Sekabembe pulled out of their bout.

England boxer Joe Joyce has been granted a bye into the final of the -91kg category at the Commonwealth Games after Uganda's Mike Sekabembe pulled out of their semi-final.

Sekabembe, who beat Haruna Osumanu of Ghana in the quarters, was scheduled to fight the Englishman in this afternoon's last-four encounter but has failed a medical check.

Consequently, Joyce will now automatically move into the weekend's final, where either Efe Ajagba of Nigeria or Australia's Joseph Goodall will challenge him for the gold.

The Londoner beat Ross Henderson of Scotland in the quarter-finals.
