England's Nicola Adams "over the moon" with Commonwealth Games gold medal

Nicola Adams thanks supporters for pushing her on to victory in this afternoon's women's flyweight final at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England boxer Nicola Adams has said that she is "over the moon" with her gold-medal victory in this afternoon's women's flyweight final at the Commonwealth Games.

The 31-year-old, who also won gold in the ring at London 2012, recorded a split-decision win over Northern Ireland's Michaela Walsh at the SSE Hydro.

"I'm absolutely over the moon," Adams told BBC Sport. "I'm overwhelmed, I can't believe it. The support I have had - I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has turned up today and to those who have supported from home.

"I knew it was close through the rounds but I thought I had done enough to just take it. It's definitely been a Scottish rumble in the jungle."

The gold medal was England's 50th of Glasgow 2014.
