Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison will undergo surgery next week and is expected to be sidelined for at least another month.
Collison's procedure is aimed at repairing a core muscle injury that has forced him to miss the past seven games of the regular season.
The Kings announced that it is a strained hip flexor, and while he will undergo surgery next Tuesday, he will be re-evaluated in three to six weeks.
The 27-year-old picked up the injury in the loss against the Dallas Mavericks on February 5, with Andre Miller stepping in to replace him.
Collison is averaging a career-high 16.1 points, 5.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds so far this season.
