Byron Scott: 'It's a dream come true to coach LA Lakers'

New LA Lakers coach Byron Scott says that his passion and love for the franchise is "second to none" as he gives his first press conference.

Former Los Angeles Lakers player Byron Scott has stated that being hired to coach the side is a 'dream come true' for him.

Scott played for the Lakers over a 10-year period from 1983 to 1993, and again during the 1996-97 campaign. He won three championships, playing alongside the likes of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The deal was finalised on Sunday, with Scott giving his first press conference earlier today.

He told the media: "This has been a dream of mine for so long. It's a dream come true to be here sitting here talking to you guys today and be introduced as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

"The passion and the love that I have for this organisation is second to none. The only thing that I regret is that Jerry Buss isn't here today because he's somebody who showed a lot of love, a lot of confidence in me back in the day."

Buss was the long-time owner of the franchise, until he lost his battle with cancer in February 2013.
