Atlanta Hawks rout Brooklyn Nets to clinch series

The Atlanta Hawks progress to the next round of the NBA playoffs after beating the Brooklyn Nets in their first-round series.

The Atlanta Hawks have secured a place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals after wrapping up a 4-2 series win over the Brooklyn Nets with a 111-87 victory in game six.

The conference's top seeds took charge midway through the first quarter as Kyle Korver and Al Horford both added a run of points early on to put the visitors 13 up at the end of the opening spell.

The Nets kept themselves in contention at half time though as Joe Johnson led the comeback, cutting Atlanta's lead to just six points at the break.

The Hawks powered ahead in the third quarter, scoring 23 of the first 26 points after the restart, including a brace of three-pointers from Korver.

Kent Bazemore and Paul Millsap continued to run the score up for the Hawks before the end of the third quarter, putting the team 26 points in front heading into the final 12 minutes.

Brooklyn never looked like turning it around in the fourth quarter, despite Brook Lopez and Jarrett Jack both making a string of free throws against Atlanta's reserves.

The victory leaves the Hawks facing a second-round series against the Washington Wizards.
