Spain's Pablo Abian beats Dane Emil Holst to win badminton singles gold

Spain's Pablo Abian wins the badminton singles gold medal at the European Games.

Pablo Abian has beaten Denmark's Emil Holst 2-0 to claim the men's badminton singles gold medal at the European Games.

The Spaniard romped to victory in game one with a score of 21-12. Holst's frustration set in midway through that game, when his racket broke in the middle of a point.

It looked like Holst would level the score in game two though, as he raced into a six-point lead with the score at 14-8. Abian came back though to win game two 23-21 and secure the victory.

Germany's Dieter Domke and Lithuania's Kestutis Navickas won the bronze medals.
