Rhys Williams withdrawn from Commonwealth Games over anti-doping charge

Wales withdraw Rhys Williams from the Commonwealth Games following an anti-doping charge.

Wales have announced that they have withdrawn Rhys Williams from their Commonwealth Games team after the runner was found to have breached anti-doping regulations.

Williams has been provisionally suspended by UK Anti-Doping after being charged with breaching their violations following an in-competition test at the Glasgow Grand Prix earlier this month.

The 30-year-old becomes the second Welsh athlete to have been suspended from this summer's Games following Gareth Warburton's charge prior to the competition.

The 400m hurdler, who won bronze in Delhi four years ago, will have the opportunity to appeal his sanction in a hearing with the National Anti-Doping Panel.
