Great Britain runner Charlie Grice cruises into 1500m semi-finals

Charlie Grice becomes the first Briton to reach the 1500m semi-finals in Beijing for the World Athletics Championships.

Great Britain runner Charlie Grice has qualified for the men's 1500m semi-final at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing this morning.

The 21-year-old finished fourth in his heat with a time of 3:43.21 to safely secure his passage into the next phase.

Kenyan Elijah Motonei Manangoi won the preliminary in a time of 3:42.57, with Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi marginally finishing second on 3:42.72.

Grice's GB teammate Chris O'Hare will race in heat three later this morning as he bids to join his compatriot in the semis.
