Great Britain's Andy Turner has announced that he will retire from athletics once the 2014 season comes to an end.
The 33-year-old, who has been considering his future of late, was unable to retain his Commonwealth title in Glasgow after failing to finish his 110m hurdles heat by hitting a hurdle.
However, the sportsman is back on the track at the European Championships in Zurich, Switzerland.
"Hopefully I can finish on a high," Turner told BBC Sport. "It is not a decision I have taken quickly. It is not something because of the disappointment in Glasgow, it has been in my mind for pretty much the whole year.
"Now is the right time for me to hang up my spikes and become a normal guy again. I have a lot going on outside track and field."
During his career, Turner has earned gold medals in the 2010 Europeans and Commonwealths, as well as bronze in the 2011 World Championships.
The athlete will end his career having competed in three Olympic Games.
