Scotland's Guy Learmonth joins David Rudisha in 800m final

Scotland's Guy Learmonth and England's Michael Rimmer reach the 800m final at the Commonwealth Games as David Rudisha and Nijel Amos dominate the semi-finals.

Olympic champion David Rudisha cruised into the final of the 800m at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday night, with Scotland's Guy Learmonth delighting the crowd by booking his own spot.

Victory in the first semi-final was never in doubt for Rudisha as he eased away from the rest of the field with his Kenyan teammate Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich.

Learmoth remained in third spot for the majority of the race, but was forced to hold off a late challenge from Jamaica's Ricardo Cunningham to secure his place in tomorrow's final.

Botswana's Nijel Amos dominated the second semi-final to set up a head-to-head with Rudisha, while England's Michael Rimmer, who could only manage a fifth-place finish, managed to sneak through to the final as a fastest loser.
