Welsh duo Rhys Williams, Gareth Warburton to face anti-doping hearing on Monday

Welsh athletes Rhys Williams and Gareth Warburton will face an anti-doping hearing on Monday after both failed drugs tests before the Commonwealth Games.

Welsh athletes Rhys Williams and Gareth Warburton are due to attend an anti-doping hearing on Monday after both failed drugs tests earlier this year.

UK Anti-Doping confirmed the date for the pair, both of whom deny any knowledge of taking banned substances while competing.

Williams, who was due to captain the Wales athletics team at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, tested positive for an illegal drug at the Grand Prix in Scotland on July 11.

Warburton, who is an 800m runner, also failed a test prior to the Commonwealth Games in the summer.

A statement from UKAD said that the possible punishment can "vary", but reports have claimed that if found guilty the pair could be suspended from competing for between one and four years.

Welsh sport supplement manufacturer Mountain Fuel are involved in the case as they try to discover if any of their products caused the athletes to fail.
