Jessica Ennis-Hill has predicted an exciting period for British heptathlon after impressive starts to the year for Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Morgan Lake.
Johnson-Thompson won European pentathlon gold in March while Lake is progressing in the senior ranks after her success at the World Junior Championships last summer.
Ennis-Hill hasn't competed for nearly two years due to the birth of her first child, but ahead of her appearance at the Great City Games this weekend, the 2012 Olympic champion has revealed that she welcomes the emergence of new talent in the sport.
The 29-year-old told BBC Sport: "It's exciting but it's always been the case with the heptathlon. It's amazing how we keep having athletes come through year on year.
"I've been on the sidelines watching Katarina and Morgan compete and they've been absolutely phenomenal.
"It's a little bit nerve-racking for me to step back into, but it's exciting and it raises the profile of our event. It should be a great two years."
Ennis-Hill will feature in the women's 100m hurdles in Manchester.
