Katarina Johnson-Thompson has admitted that she feels "more hungry" for success after failing to set a world record in the heptathlon at the European Indoor Championships in Prague.
The British athlete won gold and set a new British record by claiming 5,000 points at the weekend, but she fell short of Nataliya Dobrynska's world record of 5,013.
"Everything happens for a reason - I'm a believer of that for sure," Johnson-Thompson told the London Evening Standard. "Last year when I got injured that was probably a good thing for me even if it didn't seem it at the time.
"It's probably been one of the biggest motivators for me in my career. Maybe this is a good thing, it'll take me to the summer and make me more hungry, but at the time it didn't feel nice."
The 22-year-old will compete at the Hypo Meeting in Gotzis in May and then the World Championships in Beijing this summer.
