Usain Bolt claimed the gold medal in the men's 100m for the second successive Olympic Games this evening, setting a new Olympic record in the process.
Despite only getting off to a reasonable start, 25-year-old Bolt soon got into his stride and hit the front with 50m of the race run.
He eventually crossed the line in a time of 9.63 seconds.
Bolt's compatriot Yohan Blake took silver in 9.75 seconds, which equalled his personal best time.
Bronze went to the 2004 champion Justin Gatlin of the United States.
