Jamaica's Usain Bolt secures his place in the final of the men's 100m.

Defending champion Usain Bolt nailed his place in the final of the men's 100m thanks to victory in his semi-final race inside the Olympic Stadium this evening.

Having struggled to get out of the blocks during yesterday's heat, Bolt got off to a positive start this time around which put him at the front of the field early in the contest.

His margin was so great with 20m remaining that he was able to ease off, eventually winning in a time of 9.87 seconds.

The second automatic qualifying spot went to Ryan Bailey of the United States.

Great Britain's Dwain Chambers finished fourth, but his time of 10.05 seconds was not enough for him to claim one of the fastest runner-up slots.
