Yohan Blake and Tyson Gay finished first and second respectively to book their places in the final of the men's 100m this evening.
Jamaica's Blake, who is a training partner of Usain Bolt, clocked a time of 9.85 seconds, finishing just ahead of American sprinter Gay.
Britain's Adam Gemili finished third in what was only his second ever race at an Olympic Games. The 18-year-old ran 10.06 seconds, which was not enough to claim one of the fastest runner-up places.
The final is due to take place at 9.50pm tonight.
