Ashley Bryant wins decathlon silver behind dominant Damien Warner

Ashley Bryant clinches silver in the decathlon thanks to a strong 1,500m showing, while Damien Warner collects gold.

England's Ashley Bryant has secured a silver medal in the decathlon thanks to an impressive display in the final event inside Hampden Park.

The Englishman was trailing Kurt Felix of Grenada heading into the 1,500m, and looked set for bronze, but a third-place finish saw him jump to second in dramatic fashion.

Felix did his part, too, with the Grenadian only managing to finish sixth in the race, which forced him to fall back into third in the overall standings.

The gold went to Canada's Damien Warner, who led the decathlon from start to finish thanks to a series of dominant performances, despite only managing fifth in the 1,500m.

Warner finished with 8282, with Bryant 173 points behind his rival.
