Team England's Michael Bingham has said that he expects a tough race in the semi-finals of the men's 400m tomorrow.
The 28-year-old, who switched allegiances from the USA to Britain in 2008, marked his Commonwealth Games debut today with a time of 45.80s to qualify second in his heat behind Olympic gold medallist Kirani James. Bingham's time saw him ranked fifth overall from the seven heats, but he remains cautious ahead of the next round.
"It was a good qualifier," he told Sports Mole afterwards. "I didn't see anybody until Kirani came up on me at 350m, and in the heats you really can't kick again. We'll see how things go tomorrow - it is going to be a lot different as people are going to be in better lanes, so it's going to be a lot harder."
Asked how high his hopes for success are in Glasgow, Bingham added: "High. Aim high, shoot low. My aim is to win, if I medal that's awesome, but if I don't make it I'll just put in 110%."
The semi-finals of the men's 400m take place from 8.05pm tomorrow in Glasgow, while Bingham will also compete in the men's 4x400m relay on Friday.
