Tennessee Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst has expressed his belief that teammate Jake Locker will have an excellent season in the 2014 campaign.
Whitehurst was brought into the club to serve as backup behind the 26-year-old, who has struggled with injuries since being selected by the Titans in the first round of the 2011 Draft.
However, the veteran is convinced that Locker is ready for a breakout year to prove his doubters wrong.
"Part of my job this year is to help guys in the new offense," Whitehurst told The Tennessean. "At the backup quarterback spot, you have to be ready to play if called upon and that is my first priority.
"I have been doing my best to help Jake and he has helped me in this process. We're helping each other. I think he is primed to have a heck of a season, and if need be, I'll be ready to play."
Locker threw for 1,256 yards along with eight touchdowns to four interceptions before his injury last season.
