Jadeveon Clowney runs fastest 40-yard dash time

Former South Carolina Gamecocks pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney produces the fastest 40-yard sprint among defensive linemen in this year's NFL scouting combine.

Former South Carolina Gamecocks star Jadeveon Clowney strengthened his Draft prospects on Monday by recording the fastest time among defensive linemen for the 40-yard dash.

Clowney was officially clocked at 4.53s, a time that was not only the quickest in his position but also faster than many of the wide receivers who had run the day before.

The 21-year-old pass rusher's time is also faster than all but one of the current NFL starting quarterbacks managed, with just Robert Griffin III being able to beat him.

However, Clowney was unable to participate in position-specific drills due to a hip-flexor issue, raising questions for the scouts at the combine.

Clowney has been touted as a potential first overall pick in this year's Draft, although he faces stiff competition from the likes of quarterback Johnny Manziel.
