Half-Time Report: Detroit Lions ahead against San Diego Chargers

The Detroit Lions score three first-half touchdowns to take a 21-10 lead over the San Diego Chargers in their week one game in the 2015 NFL season.

The Detroit Lions have headed into half time with a 21-10 lead over the San Diego Chargers in their opening game of the 2015 NFL season.

The Lions opened the scoring on their first drive of the game, with rookie running back Ameer Abdullah finding the endzone on his first carry as an NFL player, rushing 28 yards for the opening touchdown.

Melvin Gordon thought that he had levelled the scores for San Diego later in the first quarter when he broke off a couple of challenges before scrambling into the endzone, but the officials ruled him down short, forcing the home side to settle for a field goal.

Philip Rivers tried to get the ball to Keenan Allen early in the second quarter, but Glover Quin got in front of the receiver to intercept the ball, running it back for a second Detroit touchdown.

It got worse for San Diego a couple of minutes later as Matthew Stafford found Eric Ebron with a deep pass down the middle of the field, leaving the tight end to carry the ball over for an 18-yard touchdown, but Danny Woodhead found a way through down the other end soon after to keep the Chargers in contention.

Rivers tried a deep pass seconds before half time looking for another touchdown, but Darius Slay pounced on an underthrown ball from the quarterback for another Lions interception.
