Cullen Jenkins ready to face former team

New York Giants safety Cullen Jenkins says that the upcoming games against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, are crucial for their season.

Cullen Jenkins has said that the Philadelphia Eagles were "respectful" when releasing him during the off-season.

The defensive tackle joined the Eagles' NFC East rivals the New York Giants after being cut by the team earlier this year.

The 32-year-old told reporters: "Everybody was really cool and real respectful. I even take my hat off to [the Eagles] for how they handled the situation when they realised that I wasn't going to be part of their plans.

"They didn't just hold onto me as long as they could. They released me and gave me an opportunity to get out there early and figure out where I wanted to go.

"Two times in the next four games [the Giants play the Eagles]. That'll put you halfway through the season, and you're looking at the team that can get the upper hand and pull out these wins here can put themselves in a pretty good position to move forward towards the top of the division."

The Giants are yet to win in 2013, while the Eagles have won one of their first four games of the season.
