New York Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has confirmed that Geno Smith will start the new season as the team's leading quarterback.
The 24-year-old started 13 games last season, but he couldn't lead his team to the playoffs as they registered only four wins.
New head coach Tedd Bowles signed Ryan Fitzpatrick in the off-season, and doubts had emerged over Smith's position in the team.
However, Gailey told the New York Daily News: "Right now, Geno is the starter. And that is the way we expect it to be."
Smith threw 13 touchdowns last season.
